To the moon, Sculpture, paper, leaves, cotton pillows, moss, plastic,
Chelsea cookhouse, 2021/10/08

This piece is about my time in isolation – actually, I felt during the Chinese blockade last year. Last winter, my city was hit by the epidemic, and it was the policy that no one could leave their house. What I do most of the day is lie in bed and look out the window at the iron door that locks me tight. My head barely left the pillow. So the winter passed. Those ten days in isolation in London brought back memories.

I hope to use plants to express my works, because different plants have different personalities, I mean habits. I am horrified every time I see moss because it is moist and contains all kinds of bacteria and even bugs.

Different plants have different life cycles in different environments. Time becomes unstable. Mosses grow well in dark places, but shrubs and trees live very short lives without water and sunlight. Another reason I use plants is because plants express time.
